Regular bathing is a good start to smelling fresh.
While you presumably have good hygiene and take the usual precautions to prevent odor, there will inevitably come a time when you find yourself away from home and in need of refreshing. If you lead a busy, high stress life, work outside or exercise a lot, then it can be challenging fending off unpleasant body odor. However, even relatively sedentary people can have odor issues for a variety of reasons. However, there are affordable ways to smell good all throughout the day without much effort.

Bathe regularly. Even if you aren't a gym rat, bad odor can creep up at the worst times, such as when you are on a date -- or when you are particularly nervous about something. If you historically struggle with odor, consider bathing twice a day. For example, shower in the morning and take a long, relaxing bath in the evening.

Use deodorant, preferably one that also includes an antiperspirant. Granted, aluminum zirconium, the active ingredient found in antiperspirants is unpopular with many people; But deodorizing alone still leaves you vulnerable to sweating, which leads to body odor. Keep a stick or spray handy in public places, if it's feasible. For instance, try purchasing a travel sized version for inconspicuous and easy re-application.

Watch what you eat. Poor dietary choices can lead to bad body odor. Red meat without vegetables and processed foods all contribute to you not smelling well due to the toxins that accumulate. No one food will make you smell bad, but over time, lack of balance in your diet can lead to an unpleasant aroma.
    • 4
Prevent excessive sweating. If regular antiperspirants don't work for you, consider purchasing a clinical strength brand. If you still find that you are sweating a lot, see your doctor, as she may be able to prescribe a remedy that's not available over-the-counter.

Keep body spray, perfume or cologne handy. This is a temporary and quick fix, but it can help you in certain situations, such as a business meeting or job interview. Don't overdo it however, as too much of it is sometimes just as offensive to others as your body odor.
